Alaska Airlines Fallen Soldier Cart Escort, - Washington / Oregon / Idaho / Utah

About the Mission:
Alaska Airlines and their employees have worked for more than a decade to build and present special carts, used solely at airports for the transport of our fallen military personnel when they arrive at the airport, after giving the ultimate sacrifice for our country. These carts are created for one purpose: To assist the airport/airline in ensuring that proper protocols and respect are afforded when handling the remains of the fallen.

This cart will travel from Seattle Washington, through Oregon, Idaho and into Utah. Patriot Guard Riders from each state will participate in the event, some from each state escorting the cart all the way into Salt Lake City. This procession will be escorted by Utah Highway Patrol, Box Elder, Weber and Davis County Sheriff Departments, as well as Ogden City, Layton City and Bountiful City Police Departments.

Stage one and two will be the escort only, Stage three will be the next day with a special ceremony taking place in front of an Alaska Airlines jet, presenting the cart to the SLC airport. We will ride our motorcycles onto the tarmac at General Aviation to be present at this ceremony.

This stage of the mission will be on Monday, June 29, 2026. We will join the escort group from other states, traveling from the hotel to the General Aviation section of the airport. We will arrive at the airport at approximately 10:30 AM, prepare the cart for presentation, then travel into the secure area of the airport. While the cart is being prepared, Utah PGR will set up a flag line for the ceremony.

The gate is located at 470 2400 West, Salt Lake City. Please google the exact address as stated in order to get the correct location. Use Google Maps, and do not add a "north" or "south" to the above address. The location is a parking lot near the DPS helicopter hangar just north of North Temple on 2400 West. There should be signs in the area notifying cages where to park as they most likely won't be allowed on the tarmac.

NOTE: As this is a secure area, weapons are prohibited. Please leave them home!

The ceremony will begin at 11:00 AM at the Signature Aviation hangar. Alaska Airlines executives will be arriving in their jet branded to honor Veterans. We will ride our bikes onto the tarmac to park in front of the jet which will be a backdrop for the ceremony. Please dress appropriately, as always, with PGR gear if possible, but especially as this is a presentation ceremony and news media may be in attendance

Flags & Water:
Flags will be provided.
If you have large bike flags, please bring them.
Water will not be provided, please bring your own.
